...broken bones...

Last week I (David) suffered some injury to my ankle. I broke it 3 places...bummer. The er doctors told me I will be requiring surgery to prevent a lifetime of problems with my ankle and knee. My appointment with the orthopedic surgeon is tomorrow, hopefully he will be able to give me a date for said surgery then because this will be the only think preventing me from playing shows. I consider all of our shows to be on so please keep your fingers crossed for me that surgery will not fall on or around any of those dates. as soon as i know more, so shall you. thanks.

...Never gone or forgotten...

Its was recently brought to our attention, well, the lack of attention we have given our blog. Back around the last post we made a decision to not post anything until the day the album was ready to be placed in the hands of our listeners. At the the time, that seemed like the only news worthy post we could make....However. It is now June and the album has been done and out since April. So, we have some catching up to do.
We are proud to announce that after all of our hard work personally writing and recording our first release it is now available. You can purchase "Where the real wind blows" on itunes or from us directly at our shows. We owe a huge thanks to Scott Dixon and the people of this city who came out and showed us their support at our CD release show. We must admit, it comes with some surprise the love and respect we have been shown. It will never be lost on us. Currently we are hard at work doing all we know how to do. Writing, writing and more writing. We must admit that being from upstate New York, the nice weather has its ways of pulling us out of the band room at times. However these trips have offered nothing short of inspiration for future works. We are very excited and proud of the direction our new material is taking us. Soon enough you will understand, but know that mic's and stands may have found their way into the room! We will continue to do our best to post more and more news in the coming days, weeks and months. We are also working on new ways to get our album into your hands. until then, we hope to see many new and old faces at the shows.
Thanks again for the support, Ohne-ka & the Burning River

Thanks are in order...

We had an amazing weekend, both shows were great. We owe a huge thanks to all of our close friends that have been here to help make this band feel welcome. and to all the new friends we have been making, thank you as well. its great to see people enjoying our music and understanding the depth of what we strive for. now we turn our focus back to recording. one guitar track for only one more song left to go. our excitement to get this record done is second only to the excitement to put it in all of your hands. we will be putting up some rough mixes of a couple other tracks in the near future, so look out for that and enjoy. thanks again to everyone...what a great weekend.

We are so close to tracking being 100% complete and in preparation for a busy weekend playing shows we just wanted to offer a glimpse at what we have been hard at work doing. late night inspiration...

This evening as i was driving home from my second recording session, my path happened to cross that of two beautiful foxes crossing the street. The first made its way quickly into the bush as soon as my headlights were caught in its eyes. The second however, slowed just enough in the other lane so that we could share a glance with each other. Even though it was brief, it was awe inspiring and a great way to end the evening. Certain people will be able understand a personal connection and significance...every one else just know that i finished my ride home no longer concerned with how rocky the session started. The smile still hasn't left my face. Very soon we will be posting some pre pre pre products of what has been happening at the jam factory. Its moving along and the excitement is suffocating at times. I can not express the level of gratitude we all have for Steven Glor, our ever ready and patient drummer and producer. He has made this process comfortable, productive and amazingly educational. So proud to call him a friend, brother and band mate  More to come soon.
                       -with love and respect, OHNE-KA

In loving memory...

“The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.” - Dr. Hunter S. Thompson.

Tomorrow is a day that will never be far from many peoples minds. Right now i do not acknowledge this day out of remorse or complete sadness. even though we all share those emotions, i want to send out a message of honor and appreciate for the never ending love shared for Benjamin. His influence and love will always grace us. not only this band and the individuals involved but so many more people. We thank everyone who has brought and held this family closer together and we will never lose sight of our brother. We miss and love you more everyday.
